# The Vanguards

While *They* never shared their criteria, we’ve noticed similarities between all Vanguards.&#x20;

They do not hesitate to fight for what they believe in.

They have an extraordinary adaptability and growth mindset.

### **Original Vanguards are the very first Vanguards in the history of VYDER**

All Vanguards crossed the [<mark style="color:red;">Warp Gate</mark>](/vyder-lore-book/the-universe/the-warp-gates.md) and joined the [<mark style="color:red;">Nodus</mark>](/vyder-lore-book/the-universe/the-nodus.md), even though not everyone who did so was chosen to be a Vanguard.&#x20;

This is where *They* gave them the key to the [<mark style="color:red;">VYDER</mark>](/vyder-lore-book/the-universe/the-vyder.md).&#x20;

From that point, **their skills and choices will influence the whole universe**. For better or worse.
