# Ascanda

Ascanda is the largest [Ecleray ](/vyder-lore-book/species/eclerays.md)city in [Oloma](/vyder-lore-book/planets/oloma.md).

It is also the oldest and the **starting point of the Ecleray civilization**.

Legends tell us that it was here that Kuru and the first worshippers of **Kanza and Yta**, the two suns, gathered to worship them.

Ascanda means *The Enlightened Place* in the Ecleray language.

The city center was chosen since it **is one of the few points on Oloma** **that constantly remains in the light**, regardless of the passing seasons and years.

The *Window to the world* **is the monument erected here**, witnessing the beginnings of the Ecleray civilization.

**While it used to be the cultural and political center**, Ascanda lost its political importance as the other Ecleray cities were developed.

**It lost importance since the goal was to decentralize important decisions**.

Now, each dean, from Ascanda to the tiniest village, has as much power as the others.

Ascanda remains a cultural center **where the greatest artists of the planet perform** and share their knowledge with anyone curious enough to listen.

Twice a year, **pilgrims go to Ascanda** in front of *The Window on the World* to worship their stars.
